Minister for roads & bridges and parliamentary affairs Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu Friday call on Nagas to not only preserve their traditions and but also forge unity through cultures.
The minister was speaking at a function “Ethnic Blend 2014”, a evening of cultural programme jointly organized by Rainbow Choir, Nagaland and department of art and culture with the theme “peace and unity through culture”.
During his brief address at the programme, Azo opined organizing the event with such a theme was one way to unite a society divided on community lines or interests. He said Nagas were known for their honesty and hard work and stressed on the need to preserve good values inherited from the past.
Earlier, the programme started with an invocation prayer led by Pastor of Mao Baptist Church, 7th Mile Rev A. Pfokrelo. This was followed by a folk fusion music presentation by Anüri Nienü.
There was also a display of traditional dresses and attires belonging to 11 tribes. A traditional dance was performed by Chekiye Cultural Troupe followed by a speech by the guest of honour and director of Window Media Dr. Aotoshi. The programme closed with a vote of thanks by president of Rainbow Choir, Nagaland.
