Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH) has condemned the Assam Armed Police (AAP) for assaulting and firing on innocent Lotha Nagas on October 22.
In a press release, RALH chairman Hayithung Kikon and secretary C.S. Ovung informed that on October 22, the two Naga youths and one “illegal immigrant” had an argument over some matters along the roadside near Liphanyan. Three Lotha Nagas elders came and tried to pacify the situation.
AAP personnel deployed in the area however assaulted the elders. One of them, a former RALH chairman was badly injured in the incident. The two youths tried to flee from the scene when AAP personnel began firing on them. One of them sustained serious injury.
RALH while urging the authorities to initiate action against the AAP personnel has requested the state government to “attach” NAP personnel at all the AAP camps set up in the area.
