Wokha town is all set to witness the first edition of Wokha festival of Music & Indigenous games/arts on November 4 and 5 even as youth from various colonies and villages are heavily engaged in either constructing equipments or practicing the various disciplines.
The event is specifically youth oriented and aimed at reviving, promoting and preserving the indigenous culture. It is also a platform to promote local talents, social values and peaceful co-existence among different communities living in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Robin A Lotha, will be the chief guest in the opening ceremony which will begin at 9 a.m. on November 4 at the public ground, Wokha town. On that day, competitions on arts/games such spear throw on a target, Stilt bamboo race, traditional fire making, top spinning, skipping and yodeling would be conducted. The first evening will be brought to a close with the musical extravaganza for solo artists.
At the closing ceremony, Zubenthung Humtsoe, Additional District Coordinator, SSA Wokha district, will be the chief guest while Tumchobeni Mozhui, winner of Voice of Wokha 2013, will be presenting a special number and followed prizes distribution to the competitors.
James Basnet and the Band (Recipient of IMEA Awards 2014 in Gospel category), Best male artist of the year and best song of the year will be the special guest during the fest. Vanjamo Ngullie and Shri Aremo Ezung are the patrons for the music extravaganza.
The Wokha festival of Music and Indigenous games/arts is organized by Team Metamorphosis in association with King’s Sound and with the help of some well wishers.
