District Education Officer, Kohima, has announced to organise a competition of innovative Science Talk on April 28 at Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Kohima, commencing from 10:30 a.m.
The competition is being organised to commemorate the National Science Day 2015 on the theme “Science for nation building” emphasizing the importance of science which alone could solve the problems of hunger and poverty, insanitation and illiteracy, of superstition and deadening custom and tradition, of vast resources running into waste, of a rich country inhabited by starving people and the unaffordability to ignore science.
The competition would be organised with the sponsorship from the Department of Science & Technology.
DEO Kohima, K Mary Dzüvichü, stated that the programme would be compulsorily participated only by one high school student from up to Class X level as competitor and five other students as spectators. Cash prizes and certificates would be awarded to the winning competitors.
Schools short-listed for participation in the competition are Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Northfield School, G Rio Higher Secondary School, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Baptist High, Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Chandmari Higher Secondary School, Dzüvürü Public School, Mt. Sinai Higher Secondary School, Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Fernwood School, Model Higher Secondary School and St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School.
