Azo sets ‘new mission’ for NPWD
Minister of Roads and Bridges (R&B) and Parliamentary Affairs, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Neinu Monday, expressed optimism he along  with active cooperation of thinkers and planners of the R&B department,would bring about a new Nagaland.

Speaking at his first meeting with the officers of NPWD at the department conference hall, Azo said he was not in the department to rule but to serve the people and also added, that corruption should not be allowed to cross its limit.

He also urged officers to set achievable targets lest unrealistic ones hamper the department’s mission and sought the guidance and cooperation of the officers in this regard.

He also reiterated that transfer and posting of officers should be solely based on performance and not through pressures from underground or political lobbies.He reminded officers to be dedicated and committed to their responsibilities.

In his address, parliamentary secretary, mechanical and national highways Nuklutoshi also sough the cooperation of the officers and reminded them about the challenge before the department on its new mission.

Paliamentary secretary housing Vikho-o Yhosu, in his address while seeking cooperation, told officers that things can change only when they render their best abilities in the service of the people.

The meeting of the minister (R&B), parliamentary secretary(Mechanical and NH) and parliamentary secretary(Housing) was chaired by commissioner and secretary W&H Temjen Toy IAS, while Er Vetokhu Sema gave the welcome speech and Er.D.Mero(Chief Engineer R&B)also spoke.

Chang calls for transformation
KOHIMA, MAR 11 (NPN): Minister for school education CM Chang has called for the transformation of the educational scenario in the state and sought cooperation between his office, staff members and the entire school education department.

In his maiden interaction with officers and staff of Directorate of School Education (DSE) at the office’s conference hall Monday, Chang asked the officers and staff to render their duties with more conviction and utmost zeal stating that it was education through which the future of society could be crafted.

The minister asked the stakeholders including teachers to work hard and commit themselves to their respective jobs while they were in service and not after retirement.

While stating that people have in the past had different opinions on the department, he however asked the officers and staff to take up challenges and work together as a family. The minister called for maintaining a “personal” relation without hesitation or reservation.

School Education department commissioner & secretary T. Imkonglemba, who chaired the reception programme said that education department was one of the oldest departments in the state and the same department required people at the helm of affairs having knowledge and wisdom through experiences.

The commissioner & secretary hoped that with good team spirit, the department would take up new challenges that were ahead for the department under the leadership of the new minister.

The welcome address was delivered by M. Patton, principal director, school education while short speeches were delivered by B. Tingshem, director, school education and Zaveyi Nyekha, additional director. Kekusho Phesao, additional director (HSS) delivered the vote of thanks. (Correspondent)

Zhaleo promises development in urban areas, towns
DIMAPUR, MAR 11 (NPN): Naga people’s Front (NPF) 5 Ghaspani II assembly constituency has exuded confidence that its representative Zhaleo Rio would usher in an era of all-round development for urban areas and small townships throughout the state in the next few years.

In a press release, parliamentary secretary for urban development Zhaleo Rio’s consultant Sebastian Zumvu expressed the view that Ghaspani area had all the pre-requites to be transformed into a “well-planned and modern satellite township of Dimapur.

He added that Zhaleo’s victory has been the largest margin in the district in the just-concluded polls.

Saluting the wisdom of NPF party leadership in allotting urban development to Zhaleo, Sebastian also appealed to all those who did not vote for NPF to “forget party colours or political differences” and asked them to come forward for the uplift of the people of the constituency.

Sebastian on behalf of NPF 5 Ghaspani II A/C requested the three poll rivals – Hewoto, Rokonicha and Khaiminlun –  to join hands with Zhaleo to “advice him” and guide him stating they were respected leaders with vast experiences.

NPF unit has also expressed gratitude to party president Dr Shürhozelie and chief minister Neiphiu Rio for extending full support throughout the campaign and electioneering process.
 
Further, thanking party leadership for awarding its candidate “a crucial portfolio”, NPF unit asserted “we consider this as an acknowledgement of the capabilities and experience that Zhaleo has and also his bureaucratic connections at the Centre.”
