Under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), the first village level organization (VLO) was launched in Phesama village on May 6 by Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU), Jakhama block in the presence of the BDO cum BMM Khovi Thaprü.
During the launching programme, block development officer (BDO) exhorted SHG members and presented VLO formation guideline paper to woman society chairman.
Introduction of VLO was presented by area coordinator, BMMU Vitsu Yhome. Two VLOs were constituted in Phesama village with strength of 13 SHGs each. A total of 137 SHG members attended the programme.
VLO under NRLM is an organization formed by a number of self help groups (SHGs) in order to bring socio-economic changes among the members of the groups and the village at large.
VLO was primarily to play the role of a financial intermediary along with provided services like book keeping, bank linkages to SHG(s) besides taking up social and developmental issues.
NSRLM has been promoting institutions for poor since the inception and would now focus on nurturing these institutions to be models as part of the resource block strategy implementation.
