KVC appeals for restraint

Kohima Village Council (KVC) has made a fervent appeal to the Southern Angami People Organization (SAPO) and Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) to re-consider and withdraw the eviction notice served on Mao Naga community.  In a press release, KVC chairman, Neivor Rutsa further appealed to the Mao Council to show sincerity in withdrawing the memorandum submitted to Manipur government on the issue.
Noting that the matter was between SAPO and Mao Council, KVC said it should be solved based on the traditional history of boundaries of both the communities.
KVC said both the communities should restrain themselves from aggravating the situation and reconsider to give room for reconciliation and to solve the problem amicably.
“It is only a misunderstanding between two members within the same Tenyimia family”, KVC added.
KVC also expressed concerned particularly for the students, stating that “their studies should never be disturb at this juncture as they are already in the middle of their academic year and this is not the time to change schools”.
Asserting that the council believes in peaceful co-existence of every community within its jurisdiction, KVC said: “we are against the policy of discrimination or eviction of any particular community from our jurisdiction despite the nature of misunderstanding.”
