Watchman with the support of Legislators Forum on Aids (LFA) conducted a day long, seminar on HIV and AIDS on the theme “focus, partner, achieve: an AIDS free generation” for Bible College students on August 22 at IMC hall, Dimapur.
Resource persons for the seminar were state consultant LFA Dr Vinito L Chishi, Rev Dr. Chingmak Chang, MO ART civil hospital Dr. Hotoka Hesso and Thejanguno of NSACS.
During seminar, topics on response on HIV AIDS, Church and social transformation, scenario and present trend of HIV and AIDS were covered by the resource persons.
Pointing out that church being the largest and strongest body in the state, the speakers emphasized that church has the potential to create widespread awareness on HIV and AIDS, to promote positive attitudes towards people living with HIV and AIDS and influenced people to change high risk behaviour that make them vulnerable to the infection.
They also said church has a pivotal role to play in fighting against AIDS.
Later in the programme, commitment and resolution was passed in the presence of all the delegates. Altogether 450 members participated in the seminar.
