Organizations close down PTC office

Several organizations have decided to close down Phek Town Council (PTC) following alleged “anti-public activities” concerning floating of tender for essential and non essential commodities. These organizations have also now demanded the termination of PTC staff and appointment new capable persons by January 31, 2014. They have asked the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Phek to appoint one of his subordinates to look after sanitation and normal task.
These organizations have sought the intervention of the DC so as to find a solution to the ongoing impasse between PTC authority and the public of Phek Town.
In a representation submitted to the DC, these organizations and individuals said the decision was taken at a meeting Thursday.
They have alleged that the ADC, Phek, who is the administrator, CEO of PTC was “a habitual absentee” from his official duties has miserably failed to discharge his duty and failed to maintain accountability and transparency.
Despite repeated requests to mutually resolve the issue, the CEO has been absconding, alleged the organizations. These organizations have decided to lock PTC office and have demanded termination of the present staff by the end of this year so that new “capable and educated persons” could be appointed latest by January 31, 2014.
The organizations demanded that the bank account should be freezed till the issues were settled and requested the DC to appoint one of his subordinate officers to look after sanitation and normal task. It was also resolved that until the demands were met and public grievances redressed, the public would not extend cooperation to CEO and his staff and “no tax” would be paid to the authority.

Phek Area Mothers’ Association; convener of Phek Town Colony Chairman Forum; president of Phek Town Taxi Union; public leaders Nesucho Keyho, Api Vadeo and Khosapa Venuh. The representation was released by ACAUT Phek Unit general secretary Neizote Venuh.
