Anti-dengue month observed in Zhadima

Anti-dengue month was observed at Zhadima village under the aegis of Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DoH&FW) with officials from Chief Medical Office (CMO) and Chiephobozou block.
During the programme, Dr. Avino Metha from CMO Kohima said mosquito brings deadly diseases and stated that economy dwindled if there were more illness in the village. She asked the villagers to develop a habit of healthy living and seek medical assistance. 
Metha said people should have basic knowledge of homemade remedies for minor illness like diarrhoea. She also stressed on the importance of ASHAs.
Programme Officer (PO) for NVBDCP Dr. Benny stated that mosquito bite causes malaria, dengue, Japanese Encephalitis and chichungunia. He also advised villagers to maintain healthy lifestyle with clean environment and sanitation since all medical problems emerged from unhygienic practices. 
ZLO Dr. Aseno spoke on Leprosy and Iodized salt with demonstration and said lack of iodine in diet causes goiter, stunted growth and mental retardation. She also gave demonstration on how to make homemade ORS.
Alongside the programme, health camp was also conducted by medical team comprised of Deputy CMO Dr. Neisakho, SMO Chiephobozou Dr. Yanrenthang, Dr. Thejavino from  Zhadima PHC and Dr. Sentimoa MMU.
A total of 135 patients were treated with various ailments. The team also visited critical patients at home. Free medicines were also distributed to the villagers. 
The programme was chaired by village chairman K.T Vilie while invocation was prayed by pastor Neilalhou.
