
As part of voluntary community service towards repairing the deteriorating roads, District Truck Drivers Welfare Trade Union (DDTDWTU) conducted a social work at Purana Bazaar area National Highway and Nagarjan State Highway (3rd mile to Nagarjan), Wednesday.
The social work was conducted under the supervision of DDTDWTU officials, where volunteers filled the pot-holes and water logged portions of the roads with sand gravels transported by trucks and dumpers from the riverbed.
A press release by DDTDWTU president Kaiho Zhimo, stated that the social work was conducted as per the resolution of the union to extend community service whenever possible and when required.
He stated that worsening condition of roads had been causing unease and therefore called upon all to render such service which was the need of the hour.
DDTDWTU also extended its gratitude to district administration led by DC Dimapur, executive engineer PWD (R&B) Dimapur division, legal consultants of the union advocates Hukavi and Hetoka, chairmen and GBs of Purana Bazaar, Nagarjan and councils of Kuda village, Thilixu village, Valley View and participation of truck drivers for their support and co-operation for the social work.
It also thanked all the truck, dumper and JCB owners for providing the machineries and vehicles free of cost for excavation and transportation of sand gravel to the work site.
