KMC notifies on immersion of idols

Administrator KMC, Kovi Meyase has issued instructions for immersion of idols as per the guidelines received from Nagaland Pollution Control Board. 
KMC informed that idols should be made from natural materials as described in the holy scripts such as traditional clay, backed clay or plaster of Paris etc., painting of Idols should be discouraged. 
In case idols are to be painted, it said water soluble and non-toxic natural dyes should be used and added that use of toxic and non-biodegradable chemical dyes for painting idols should be strictly prohibited. KMC said that worship materials like flowers, clothes, decorating materials etc. (made of paper and plastic) should be removed before immersion of idols and that biodegradable materials should be collected separately for recycling or composting. Non-biodegradable materials should be collected separately for disposal in sanitary landfill. It said clothes may be sent to local orphanage house. At the immersion sites, burning of solid wastes, so generated comprising of used flowers, clothes, decorating materials etc. should be prohibited.
