For this year’s Hornbill International Rock Contest, 25 bands have made it to the final, including five local, one international and 19 national (7 from NE region), scheduled to be held during the first-week of December Close to 100 bands were auditioned for this year’s edition, however, only 25 bands made the cut for the final list, informed by Khriesazo Liezietsu, Artiste Representative of HIRC 2015. The Hornbill International Music Festival is scheduled to commence on December 2 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Hockey Ground, Kohima.
On December 2 evening, music lovers will get to witness the performance of the official tribute band of ABBA- Arrival from Sweden, followed by the HIRC 2015 contest from December 3 to 6, with the grand finale scheduled on December 6. The grand finale would be held on December 7 with famed German metal band Helloween taking the stage.
The selected bands have been asked to report on December 2 evening at the venue.
The winner of this year’s edition will win a cash award of Rs. 10 lakh, while the 1st runners-up and 2nd runners-up will also fetch prize money of Rs. 5 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh respectively.
Attractive prizes (not cash) have also been set aside for winners of individual categories- Best vocalist, Best guitarist, Best keyboardist, Best drummer and Best bassist.
Meanwhile, the organizers have also informed that online ticket sale for Helloween and ABBA shows would be put up at www.ticketgenie.in.
