Week long programme to celebrate Jai Kisan Jai Vigyan week was organised by KVK Dimapur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Jharnapani, Medziphema, Nagaland centre. The programme started with group discussion at Seloüphe village on December 23, in honour of the birth anniversary celebration of former prime ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25 and late Chaudhary Charan Singh on December 23.
Programme Coordinator KVK Dimapur, Dr Anamika Sharma while speaking on the occasion appealed to the farmers to utilize the latest agriculture technology available with the ICAR or any other institute to maximize the production and self sustainability.
Joint director, Dr Bidyut C. Deka in his remark said that latest technologies available with ICAR and it depend to the farmers on how to adapt to the new technologies.
Principal scientist, Dr K.K. Burman appealed the farmers to develop saving habit for their future. Chairman of the village assured fullest cooperation for development of the village.
Earlier the programme started with welcome address by subject matter specialist KVK Dimapur, H.D. Singh. Vote of thanks was said by SMS soil science Z. James Kikon, who also appealed to the farmers to get their soil analyzed and apply the manure/ fertilizers as per the requirement of crops.
He also asked the farmers to help and co operate in collection of soil samples for analysis.
Scientist form ICAR Complex, Nagaland Centre and other KVK personnel also participated in the programme. A total of 35 farmers and 10 officials from ICAR attended the programme.
