Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) head office, Kohima has expressed surprise that National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and Central Ministry of Road Transport and Highway awarded a road project worth Rs. 340 crore to Gayatri for four-laning Dimapur-Kohima road despite failure of Maytas and Gayatri (JV) to complete the four projects under SARDP Phase-I in Nagaland.
The four projects included construction of two laning road i.e. Longleng – Changtongya road; Mon – Tamlu, Merangkong road; Phek – Pfütsero road and Zunheboto – Chakhabama road. In a representation addressed to Union Minister of Road Transport and Highway Nitin Gadkari, NCSU vice president K L Setuo Rutsa and secretary Neilo Koza declared that the union would not allow Gayatri to execute four-laning road project unless the above mentioned SARDP projects were completed in Nagaland.
NCSU cautioned that if Gayatri wanted to go ahead with the new project, they would be doing so at their own risk, adding that the union should not be held responsible for any unwarranted incident arising thereof.
