NEISSR organized a valedictory programme for the first batch of master of social work on May 28, with director Community Education Centre Society (CECS) Sobunenba Longkumer as the cheif guest.
Addressing the MSW trainees, Longkumer said that Nagaland was in need of young, dynamic and committed social workers who were ready to get into the field. He said that if people’s mentality was to look only for a job in the office, the very purpose of acquiring master of social work would be defeated. Longkumer elaborated that “our villages need our expertise and the things that we are learning” and that “our priority should be to make all the amenities available in the rural areas, so as to develop our state”. Education should allow a person to do work and should also provide opportunity for the person to create avenues for employing other people, he added. He also congratulated the students and exhorted them to go with faith and trust in God as they continued in their chosen profession.
He also shared about the importance of cultivating hope with positive attitude with anecdotes and incidents from his personal life.

Anto also congratulated the students for successfully completing the course. “We have started together with a dream to set a trend in Nagaland and we have succeeded in being a trend setter. All the things that you have done here in your time in NEISSR is the first in Nagaland as NEISSR is the first master of Social Work Institute in Nagaland”, he exhorted. He also reminded the students to be trustworthy, honest and committed in their work as they started a new chapter in their lives as professionals in different settings.
