Village council chairmen of Mopong Hongkong (Mopong circle) and Ad hoc Town Committee Mopong (ATCM) have reacted to the statement of Moka NPF, which refuted the demand for reinstating Mopong EAC HQ under Tobu ADC by A.Yangkon Konyak, who claimed to be the vice chairman of ATCM. In a joint press release, the VCCs while admitting that the designation claimed by A.Yangkon Konyak as vice chairman of ATCM was an error and should have been former vice chairman, however, asserted that the statement issued by Yangkon was the voice of the general public. The signatories said that VCCs reaffirmed the resolutions of May 11, 2016, which they said was “true and genuine.”
They further stated that Yangkon might be “just a mere public” but they highly acknowledged his voluntary services rendered for the cause of Mopong Kongkong, adding that “we know who is who”. They said VCCs led by A Yangkon seeking reinstating Mopong EAC Hq. under ADC Tobu was the general will of the public irrespective of political affiliation.
Meanwhile, the VCCs have asked Moka NPF president E.Y. Pongtao and general secretary H.Langkham what other formalities had been observed and available other than the official formalities/report that submitted in their final meeting of July 28, 2015 convened by EAC Mopong.
“The Moka NPF has no right to interfere in any manner in this regard,” they said.
Affirming that the public of Mopong circle “highly deserved and favoured to be under ADC Tobu”, the signatories expressed confidence that “the government of the people will surely be the government for the people.”
The signatories have also urged all responsible citizens and concern administrative authorities not to be swayed or misguided by such ill-will write ups of the individuals with “vested interest.”
The statement issued on behalf of VCCs of Mopong Hongkong (Mopong circle) included Yonghong VCC Engo Konyak, Kenchenshu VCC L. Tangang, Yei VCC Nyaoba, Yaphang VCC P.L. Wanmei, Changnyu VCC C.Pongchai, Yakshu VCC Ethang and Ukha VCC Moangkhah.
