DAPCC Mon meeting conducted

District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee (DAPCC) meeting was held on June 20 under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner, W. Honje K at conference hall, DC office, Mon. 
In the meeting, the DC acknowledged the participation of government departments, defence personnel, civil societies, churches, students, NGOs, medical and para medics in the committee.
He called upon the members to share their activities and views to effectively implement the HIV prevention and control programme in the district. 
District programme officer, DAPCU Mon, Longyim Tzudir highlighted the key activities carried for prevention of HIV and AIDS in the district and thanked the members for extending cooperation in implementing the programme in the district. 
He also shared the plan to conduct awareness programme on HIV and AIDS with the church leaders through Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (LFA) support. 
Tzudir briefed about the objective of establishing the social protect help desk at all facility centres  (under NSACS) in Mon. He expressed optimism that people living with HIV (PLHIV), children affected by AIDS (CABA), and Most at Risk Population (MARP) would access benefit schemes provided by the state government and central government. 
Further, the launching of formation of Mon Voluntary Blood Donors Association (MVBDA) during the observation of World Blood Donor Day 2016 was highlighted to the members. 
Mon Users’ Network (MUN) general secretary Sashi shared the proposal for observing the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking on June 26 at Mon. The members decided to jointly observe the event at the district level, for which a programme coordination committee headed by additional SP Mon, S. Lanu Aier was set up for necessary arrangements. 
While discussing on the benefits of OST services, EAC, Monyakshu, Sentilong Ozukum briefly shared on the functioning of OST centres at Monyakshu under Tobu area, where the deputy commissioner had opined his concern and the need for more such centres in the district.
