Aghunato Area Union Dimapur (AAUD) and T (Tizu) Island Union Dimapur (TIUD) in a pres note vehemently condemned the rape of a minor girl, a class four student, by one “Aketo Aye, Leacy UT 1, NSCN-IM” at his residence located at Thilixu village a few weeks back.
AAUD chairman, Ahovi Sema and jt. secretary Mulato Katty said that the accused after committing the crime, “threatened to kill the victim” if she reported the matter to anyone.
AAUD said such crime should be condemned by all right thinking citizens and urged the authority to take stern action in order to set an example to prevent such reoccurrences.
The union further appealed to NSCN/GPRN to take appropriate action as per the Yehzabo. In another press note, TIUD chairman Vinito Chopy said termed the horrific rape of a seven year old minor girl by Aketo Aye back as ghastly. TIUD said Aketo, a neighbor of the victim had sent out the victim’s brother to the shop on the pretext of buying things. In the meanwhile, the accused raped the minor, TIUD said. TIUD said that the accused also threatened to kill the minor if she disclosed to anyone. Fearing for her life, the traumatized child hid the barbaric crime committed on her for two weeks. However, TIUD said the parents got to know “only after the victim’s condition became serious due to injury caused by Aketo Aye”.
The union has appealed to the concern authorities and law enforcing agency to award befitting and exemplary punishment. While stating that the “paedophile was now under police custody”, TIUD appealed to the concerned authority to make this case as “non-bailable offence”.
