Oncologists conference held at EMC

Eden Medical Centre (EMC), Dimapur organized the 11th annual conference of the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India, North East Zonal Chapter (NEAROICON 2016) on October 21 and 22, inaugurated by secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Maongwati Aier. 
During his speech, Maongwati stressed on the importance of preventive measures of various cancers rather than its treatment. He also encouraged doctors to train and educate the health workers so as to improve the health scenario in India. Delegates (doctors) from all over the north east as well as from Nagaland attended this conference.  During this meeting it was realized that the highest incidence of smokeless related cancer in the world was in East Khasi Hills. Post graduate students of BBCI Guwahati & RIMS Imphal presented posters/papers and there were interactive sessions with renowned professors.
Renowned doctors (oncologists) from TMC Mumbai, AIIMS & Fortis Hospital Delhi, Apollo Hospital Kolkata, Apollo Hospital Bilaspur, Medicity Medanta Gurgaon, BBCI Guwahati,RIMS Imphal & NEM Care Hospital Guwahati were the resource persons. Some of the topics that were presented were recent advances in management of nasopharyngeal cancer, hypopharyngeal cancer, colorectal cancers, prostate cancer and head & neck cancer. 
This is the first time a radiation oncologists conference has been hosted in Nagaland.
