Cultural performances continue to enthral visitors at Hornbill Fest

Cultural dance performances by various Naga tribes continued to enthrall visitors at the ongoing Hornbill Festival at Naga Heritage village, Kisama on Wednesday.
On the seventh day, 17 cultural troupes dressed in their respective traditional attires showcased the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the Nagas.
During the first session of the cultural programme, Yehemi village cultural troupe from Sumi community performed “axuto inache kukuxu” a traditional game played by men folk. It is a game to test the skill and strength as to who can make the opponent fall down.
Pholami Dzuvekro cultural troupe of the Chakhesang community presented “Chute Li” millet sowing song. Phaijol Village cultural troupe of the Kuki community performed “Khulkon lam” dance, that depicts the journey undertaken by the Kuki forefathers from their subterranean under world “khul” to the upper world in search of good land.
Nsong Village cultural troupe from Zelaing community presented a folk song.
Waromong Village cultural troupe from Ao community demonstrated “Arr Atsutepa” (Tug of war).
Kachari Cultural Troupe Purana bazaar from Dimapur performed “ gwdan bwthwr”, a dance performed by the young and old alike to welcome the new year in the Kachari month of Bwisagu.
Pathso Noken Cultural Troupe from Khiamniungan community demonstrated “nok-lee”- a dispute between two khels when something is stolen in the village.
Phoyisha Range Cultural Troupe from Pochury community performed “ khwizhll” folk dance. This dance, depicts when a male invitees in honour of the feast –giver, singing praises about his generosity, his popularity , the good food and drinks enjoyed by all finally, bidding farewell to the day and the feast.
Mezoma Village culture troupe of the Angami tribe performed “Terhü Keho Do” the different tactics in attacking the enemy (head hunting). These tactics were taught to the young boys by the warriors armed to the hilt with spear, machete, shield etc.
 In the afternoon session, Sangphur Village cultural troupe from Yimchunger community performed “jung heh” war dance during head hunting raid.
Tuensang Village Cultural Troupe from Chang community demonstrated “ nyeklang khun” the art of weaving unique warriors’ hat used by the warriors during war. Wokha village cultural troupe from Lotha community presented a folk song.
Orangkong village cultural troupe from Phom community demonstrated “Yahok Lopho” headhunting/warfare in the olden days when victorious warriors returned after a successful head hunting raid, was celebrated by the whole village. The warriors donning shield, dao, spear and headgear danced with great enthusiasm and sang recounting their achievements.
Ekranipathar Village cultural troupe from Dimapur Garo community performed the “Wangala” dance, which is one of the most important dance of the Garos during Wangala harvest festival.
Angangba Village cultural troupe from Sangtam community performed “Shore-o-Shore” folk song and dance. This is performed when a rich family hosts a feast for the people to celebrate.
 Kithagha Village cultural troupe from Rengma community performed “Agahli”. This victory dance, which is a skilful and lively, is usually performed and arrayed in their traditional best, while celebrating a war victory. The dance is also performed during important festivals.
Chingdang village Cultural Troupe from Konyak demonstrated “ wu leng jun pu hem” traditional fishing song performed during traditional method of community fishing.
