Corruption, graft trademark of NPF-led DAN govt: NPCC

December 16, 2016 | by admin

Alleging that “corruption and graft is a trademark” of the DAN government, the NPCC on Thursday accused the chief minister of being hell bent on legitimising its “trademark” and mobilising all resources at its command to punish anyone who dared to expose government’s misdeeds.
In a press release, NPCC working president, Ayangba Aonok, said DAN government, after lambasting the governor and BJP for expressing anguish over “unprecedented corruption and graft”, went a step further and arrested ACAUT leaders for exposing corruption in food and civil supplies (F&CS) department.
Condemning the arrest of ACAUT leaders, Aonok urged the government to listen to people’s voice and clean up the department and release the ACAUT leaders.
NPCC working president also likened DAN government headed by TR Zeliang to “a fascist rule”, which he described was “essentially an anti-intellectual movement, pro capitalist that opposes the right of the workers to resort to strike and demonstration…”
Further, he alleged that DAN government has recruited a good number of police personnel loyal to them through backdoor and unleashed them to quell peaceful rally and demonstration, which he maintained was “a danger signal for the Naga people.”
Stating that intolerance was one of the attributes of DAN government, Aonok said declaring a virtual war against the vigilant and innocent citizens must be condemned by all right thinking people.
NPF stand on ‘Good Governance Day’ vague: NPCC said NPF stand on declaration of Christmas day as “Good Governance Day” was still ambiguous and vague.
NPCC said when it raised the matter that DAN government has not opposed the NDA government order, the NPF came out with a vague response and gone on record to say that NPF CEC has taken up the issue.
Congress said if CEC took up the issue then it should be in public domain and speak up without hesitation and faltering. It said mere adoption of resolution would not help assuage hurt feelings of Christians in Nagaland, adding that NDA government would not take cognizance of that veiled resolution.
NPCC said NPF has succumbed to manoeuvring of RSS and has completely “failed to thwart the Modi-RSS onslaught on Christianity.”
Further, accusing TR Zeliang of being lenient towards Hindutva and RSS, the Congress said he has virtually given them a free hand to assault on Christianity.
NPCC maintained that Naga solidarity was tearing apart and disunity has surfaced as never before under an ineffective, corrupt and dictatorial regime.
Meanwhile, NPCC claimed that “much-hyped” DAN legislators’ trip to Delhi for Naga political settlement turned out to be hoax. It said the trip was to impress the people that DAN government was committed towards a political settlement.
NPCC said nothing was on record to substantiate their commitment except the one statement made by the chief minister TR Zeliang that Naga issue was nearing solution.
Congress claimed that there seemed to be no spadework and no serious effort made by DAN government to facilitate the settlement. “Instead of working towards a solution the DAN government is gearing up for poll slated in 2018 and drumming up support for electoral gains,” NPCC said.
