Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Dimapur conducted within district farmers training on March 2, at Phukato Village.
Resource person for the training BTM (ATMA), Niuland block Demalu Hasnusa spoke on “Application method of biofertilizer” where he illustrated that “Biofertilizer” was a substance which contains living microorganism which, when applied to seed, plant surfaces, or soil, colonizes the rhizosphere or the interior of the plant and promotes growth by increasing the supply or availability of primary nutrients to the host plant.
He pointed that biofertilizers were not fertilizers and that fertilizers directly increase soil fertility by adding nutrients but Biofertilizers add nutrients through the natural processes of fixing atmospheric nitrogen, solubilizing Phosphorus, and stimulating plant growth through the synthesis of growth promoting substances.
He also elaborated on the different types of biofertilizers such as Rhizobium, Azotobacter, Cyanobacteria etc. The programme was followed by interaction session with the participants. Earlier, the programme was chaired by BTM (ATMA), Kuhuboto block Akavi Holo.
