Tuensang District Local Taxi Drivers Union (TDLTDU) has requested every faction/ group/ organization or individuals to restrain from seeking any kind of donation or taxation to the drivers or union, so as to render valuable service to the needy people. TDLTDU president, Ako. S. Chang, in a press note stated that, the union was formed for the welfare of the taxi drivers, to tackle accidents and unnecessary harassment. The union further stated that, those drivers earned daily bread through driving or plying taxi on monthly wages having no other sources of income. It stated that they cannot be forced by any element to give any contribution, as per its resolution adopted from the very day of formation of its union. The union further asked the general public for cooperation and to obey traffic rules for smooth functioning of the public services and safety from road mishaps.
