FPA India Nagaland Branch in collaboration with Thenyuzumi Students Union observed the “World Health Day” by conducting an awareness program-cum-medical camp at Thenyuzumi village on April 7.
At the programmme “Significance of the Da” was delivered by counsellor FPA India Nagaland Branch, Ville Rhets,. She highlighted on the year’s theme “Depression: Let’s talk.” Participants were informed that depression affected people of all ages around the world and could lead to suicide which was now the second leading cause of death among 15-29 year old as per WHO report. Expressing depression as an illness and not a sign of weakness she said it could be prevented and treated.
Dr. Pewezo Khalo in his exhortation stressed on the village sanitation and hygiene, cleanliness and timely health seeking behaviour. He appealed to all the villages and different organizations to co-ordinate for betterment of the public health. Earlier at the programme, invocation was delivered by C. Kroso, welcome speech by Vekedu Resu, president, Thenyuzu Students Union, while Kenei Rhakho briefed about FPA India and services to the community and vote of thanks was pronounced by Zhothiyi Dawhuo.
Altogether 100 clients were registered for health treatment and management services. In addition, Family planning Counselling and Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) services were also provided.
Adolescent Education Program was also conducted at St. Andrews High School. Program Officer FPA India Nagaland Branch, Rokuoneinuo Zecho spoke on the issues related to adolescents and growing up.
