Fixed pay lecturers, assistant lecturers and demonstrators of Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) have decided to call off the protest (to abstain from conducting the practical examination due to non-payment of six months salary since October 2016) from April 27.
Despite no positive response from the government, the agitating members have called off the strike by “keeping in the mind the career of the students at stake”, stated the members in a press statement.
They said that the decision to abstain from performing the duty was taken after government failed to respond on their repeated requests (verbally and written) on non-payment of salaries. Therefore, the members served an ultimatum on the state government on March 30, 2017, that they would not to declare the Progressive Assessment on April 12, 2017. However, keeping in mind the career of the students and despite unsatisfactory response, the faculties declared the progressive assessment.
In this regard, the members have urged the authority to feel the genuineness of their case and take up the matter with utmost urgency with professional ethics.
