Parliamentary secretary of Higher & Technical Education, Deo Nukhu inspected the ongoing Wokha Polytechnic Institute (WPI) at Pangti village on May 9.
According to DIPR report, Nukhu’s visit was to oversee the progress of construction work which had started since 2015.
During his visit the parliamentary secretary informed that, proposal for creation of post for the said institution has already been put up and was likely to commence from 2018 onwards. He also informed that for up-gradation to higher level was under process and to include more viable subjects like electrical and mechanical and other important subjects.
He said with the construction of NH Wokha-Merapani road Wokha Polytechnic would become a centre of education for the district and state as a whole.
Department officials from Kohima and Wokha district administration let by ADC, Bhandari, Orenthung Lotha accompanied Nukhu.
