COPTA officials conduct surprise checking

The Enforcement Officers and Flying Squad Officials of Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Act  (COPTA) Kohima, comprising police personnel from South Police Station, North Police Station and Health & Family Welfare Department, conducted surprise checking at the shops located near educational institutes within South Police Station jurisdiction and North Police Station Jurisdiction on May 25.
A press note by SDPO (South) and PRO, Atu Zumvu stated that altogether 39 shopkeepers under South Police Station jurisdiction and 29 shopkeepers under North Police Station jurisdiction were ‘challaned’ and fined for selling tobacco products at the vicinity of the educational institutions.
The tobacco products seized from their possession were forwarded to the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Kohima along with a report, PRO added.
