Under the slogan of “Year of Construction Workers” YOCW, the Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Nagaland is imparting training on masonry in all the district of the state.
The training, dubbed ‘Assistant Mason Training’, imparted by the training partner ‘Zynorique Initiative’ is underway here at ITI Mokokchung where 50 candidates that were selected earlier are being taught masonry, tiling and stone moulding for basic working knowledge.
According to Richard Belho of Zynorique Initiatives, the main objective of the training was for skill upgradation and re-skilling in this field of work.
He also said the training was imparted based on the curriculum of QP-NOS, adding that trainees were being given practical input as far as necessary so that the trainees could be immediately put to work after completion of training.
Belho informed that there was a 70% target of placement for the trainees through the help of local bodies, district administration, contractors etc once the training was completed.
ITI’s in the districts including Mokokchung has been provided with basic tools for NSQF Level 1 to conduct further trainings in the future, he added.
The one-week training at Mokokchung will culminate on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the trainees at Mokokchung told this correspondent that through the training they have acquired vast experience and gained a lot of knowledge.
One trainee described the training as a one-of-a-kind.
