Nagaland’s future not for sale: NNPGs

June 9, 2017 | by admin

Media Cell of Working Group (WG) of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) has hit out at the NSCN (I-M) for taking people of Nagaland for a ride in the post-August 3,2015 ‘Framework Accord’ by “promising imaginary political institution” whereas the government of India had made it clear, time and again, that breaking up neighbouring Indian state “to integrate all Naga inhabited areas” was out of question.
WG said NNPGs reaffirm the aspiration of all Nagas to live under one political roof yet when the most essential component of the Naga quest-integration of Naga areas- was not on the anvil, the “profound sounding political terminologies cannot silence indigenous tribes of Nagaland.”
Further WG said civil societies and tribes of Nagaland would have no hesitation to tell the government of India , that if the question of integration was outside the purview of the GoI-NSCN(I-M) talks, then separate and acceptable solutions be had for Nagas living in various Indian administered territories without ambiguity. WG said while the government of India has made its position clear over the issue of Naga integration; the NSCN (I-M) leadership, “inexplicably continues to indulge in unrepentant theatrical politics in their nonexistent land call Nagalim.” According to WG, the church, tribes and intellectuals have pointed out the flaw in the ongoing talks for the last 20 years adding “a single political group cannot decide the political future of all Nagas.”
WG reiterated that the Framework Accord signed on August 3,2015 has no mention of ‘Manipur or any other state’ which warranted a decisiveness from the government of India to understand the situation and address the aspirations of -1.Nagas of Nagaland,2.Nagas of Manipur,3.Nagas of Assam and 4.Nagas of Arunachal Pradesh.
WG also hit out at NSCN (I-M) MIP for “churning out press releases” by names from proper Nagaland such as– Akaho Assumi, Elian Z. Lotha, Zeneituo Angami, Hukavi Yepthomi etc. “as authors worshipping the Framework Agreement.” (Full text on p-6)
