Nyiro Range Students’ Union (NRSU) has red flagged the issue of shortage of teachers in some schools, building maintenance and also the Primary Health Centre functioning without a permanent medical officer.
In a press note, NRSU president Zuchanthung C. Kikon and general secretary Yanpothung Ngullie said that these issues were brought to light during an inspection carried out on July 20-21 under Nyiro range jurisdiction.
The union interacted with teaching faculties of government schools and staff of PHC.
It pointed out that there were requirements of teaching aids in some school, besides shortage of staff.
NRSU said that even though there was only one medical officer and few staffs, PHC Nyiro, which was established in 1997 had been functioning for the 26 years without a permanent post of MO.
The union, therefore, appealed to the concern authorities to genuinely look into the plight faced by the schools and PHCs in the best interest of the community.
