Close on the heels of the Cabinet’s decision to terminate the services of MKR Pillai as consultant to DGP Nagaland, Nagaland chief minister, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu on Monday said that the government would ask the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe into the case if any evidence is found against Pillai.
Talking to media persons, Dr. Liezietsu said the state government has sought a report from the Income Tax department. “If evidences are found against Pillai, the government will ask for a CBI probe,” he said. It may be mentioned that the Cabinet on July 12 had directed the government to seek a report from the IT department on Pillai’s case.
Dr. Liezietsu also reiterated that “he will not protect the corrupted officials.” “This was one of the reasons why my friends had gone against me even in this crisis,” he said. Since CBI is the only agency to correct erring things, Dr. Shürhozelie said there was no reason to be afraid of “if they are not wrong”.
