Assam Rifles organise programmes across Nagaland

Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR-North) have been organising various activities across Nagaland. 
15 AR: 15 Assam Rifles screened a documentary movie at Church, Chentang Saddle village on July 20 to create awareness on health and hygiene related issues. Altogether 55 civilians witnessed the movie. In a separate progammme, 15 Assam Rifles organised a tree plantation drive at Noklak Town on July 22. A total of 40 saplings were planted during the plantation drive which was attended by 35 children from Holy Angel’s School, Noklak. 
9 AR: 9 Assam conducted a lecture on awareness about drug abuse and prevention of HIV & AIDS at Chieswema Garrison on July 20. The lecture highlighted the ill effects of Drugs Abuse on human body, its negative consequences for individuals & the society and prevention of HIV & AIDS. Altogether 50 youths attended the lecture. In a separate programme, 9 Assam Rifles conducted counselling classes and screened documentary movie on AIDS at TMT Higher Secondary School, Pfutsero on July 21, organised to remove the misconceptions about transmission modes of HIV & AIDS amongst people and to create empathy for those ailing from the disease. Lecture and documentary enhanced the knowledge of children on causes, preventive measures and medication for HIV & AIDS and broadened their horizon to fight against this anathema. Around 100 students from class VII to XII including six teaching staff attended the event.
28 AR: 28 Assam Rifles organised lecture and screened documentary movies on AIDS at Jawaharlal Nehru Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chukitong on July 20. The aim of the programme was to spread awareness amongst the students and young generation about causes and ill effects of AIDS.  Altogether 91 students including 50 boys and 41 girls along with seven teaching staff attended the programme.  
44 AR: 44 Assam Rifles conducted a lecture-cum-interaction session with the theme, “a healthy me is drug free” at Govt High School Tzurangkong, New Chungtia on July 19. 45 students and teachers attended the lecture wherein evil effects of drugs and how it hampered the growth of young boys and girls of the society, were discussed at length. The students pledged to create awareness amongst their kith and kin about the social menace of drugs.
36 AR: 36 Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on drug abuse at Saijang village and Athibung, Peren (Nagaland) on July 21, to educate and spread awareness about drug abuse amongst the youths of Saijang village and Athibung. The lecture focused on the ill effects and preventive measures of drug and substance abuse. A total of 100 villagers from Saijang village and Athibung attended the programme. 
41 AR: 41 Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on the recruitment process for Army and Assam Rifles at Khonoma village on July 22, to motivate youths to join Armed Forces. Procedure of recruitment, eligibility criteria and service benefits applicable to armed forces were highlighted. The event was attended by 70 youths along with the village GB and chairman of Khonoma village. 
40 AR: 40 Assam Rifles organised a “youth empowerment initiative programme” in Tuensang on July 22. A total of 230 students from Sao Chang Government College and Thangjam Government Higher Secondary School attended the programme. The event included opening of a career counseling centre at Tuensang, which would provide career guidance to the youth and make them aware about various competitive exams. It is equipped with internet facility, library facility and coaching facility. A lecture on employment avenues and job opportunities in Nagaland were also taken by officers of 40 Assam Rifles at Tuensang auditorium followed by a visit to the counselling centre. Zamithung Lotha, DC Tuensang and commandant, 40 Assam Rifles also guided the youth to focus on their future, work hard and make the most of such a facility in Tuensang. In separate programme, 40 Assam Rifles organised a “weapon display” for the youth of Tuensang on July 22 at Tuensang. A total of 230 students from Sao Chang Government College and Thangjam Government Higher Secondary School attended the event wherein various weapons and new generation equipment being used by the Assam Rifles were displayed. Students were also explained about various career options in the armed forces for both boys and girls through National Defence Academy (NDA), Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officer’s Training Academy (OTA) as well on tech entry schemes and NCC. 
32 AR: 32 Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on “ill effect of drug trafficking and substance abuse” at Kiyeto village on July 23. Lecture on ill effect of drug trafficking and substance abuse were explained to locals. The event was attended by GBs and locals of Kiyeto and neighbouring villages.
