
Highlighting the importance of education, wife of Governor of Nagaland, Kavita Acharya, has urged upon the parents to enrol their children in schools.
Speaking as chief guest at a workshop-cum- awareness programme on women & child with special focus on Nepali community on September 9 at Sahitya Sabha Hall, Kohima, Kavita Acharya underscored the importance of education.
She also encouraged parents to spend time together with their children and get to know their friends and activities in school. “Treat your child as a friend and communicate often and pray together” she stated.
Kavita Acharya called upon the gathering to educate the girl child and to respect women adding that a society/community was a brand name of trust. She also expressed happiness to see the unity amongst the Nepali community in the state capital.
In her speech, guest of honour, Runjhu Kumar, wife of chief secretary of Nagaland, said that a child was a gift from God. She called on all to trust the capacity of their children and to encourage them as they grow up. She also emphasised on the importance of sharing the positives of life with their children.
Resource persons of the one day workshop were Kethosilie from CHILDLINE, 1098, Kohima, Vikuo from One Stop Centre, Kohima, Kenei Whuorie from CHILDLINE, 1098, Kohima and Sanjib Rana, advocate, Guwahati High Court, Nagaland Bench.
The workshop was organised by the North Eastern Region Service Nepali Association, Kohima.
