
With an aim to intensify the focus and create an environment of cleanliness across the country, 1 Nagaland Girls Bn NCC, Kohima cadets under aegis of Gp HQ NCC, Kohima is participating in the nationwide campaign on “Swachhta Hi Sewa (SHS)” from September 15 to October 2.
A press note by commanding officer of 1 Nagaland Girls Bn, Col Rajeev Kumar, informed that approximately 70 institutes i.e. schools and colleges in all 11 districts of Nagaland and affiliated to the unit for NCC activities are participating in the campaign.
The release stated that the cadets aim to raise awareness amongst the general public and also carry out cleanliness drive in the neighbourhood. It focussed on the overall campaign of ‘swachha bharat’ launched across the nation, informed the release.
“Swachhta hi sewa” programme was inaugurated in NCC affiliated institutes of the unit in Nagaland on September 15 and would encompass cleanliness drives, mass awareness rallies, speeches, seminars, theme based skits and cleaning of statues spread over the stated period, wherein approximately 4000 NCC girl cadets of the unit will be participating.
The release informed that the cleanliness drive was also organised in Meriema village, which has been adopted by the unit for social and community development activities.
