Deputy Commissioner (DC) & District Election Officer (DEO) Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome has directed all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) under Dimapur district to take up the ongoing special summary revision of the electoral roll with utmost sincerity and diligence by strictly following the ECI guidelines and orders issued by the election department from time to time.
In a press release, DC & DEO has warned that strict action shall be initiated against any defaulting BLO as per relevant rules and provisions of the Representation of Peoples’ Act. It informed that inclusion of new voters without following due process or at random shall be viewed as major insincerity.
The DC & DEO informed that E-Roll revision was also the primary exercise to remove bogus and ineligible voters from the E-Roll and no such names should be allowed to be registered in the first place and should be deleted upon detection without fail.
Meanwhile, village councils, GBs and ward authorities have been informed to coordinate with the BLOs in order to ensure a healthy and clean E-Roll. Public has been informed that period of filling of claims and objections is from October 3-31.
