Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tuensang organised two-day farmers training on “composting, types & uses in organic farming” and “advances in production technology of major spice crops (Ginger & Naga King Chilli)” for farmers of Kuthur village on October 30 & 31 at KVK farm, Tuensang with assistant chief technical officer (Soil Conservation), Imtilemla and subject matter specialist (Horticulture), KVK Tuensang, Dr. Shisarenla Aier as resource persons.
Addressing the programme senior scientist & head, KVK Tuensang, Dr. Keviletsu Khate emphasized the importance of composting organic products which helps in waste management, cleaner environment and for use as organic input in the field. He also encouraged the farmers to take full advantage of the training programme so that a change can be brought upon in the farming practices.
The programme was organized to train the farmers on different methods of composting which in turn will help them in the long run to maintain cleanliness in the village and the compost can be used as a supplement for production of all agricultural and horticultural crops. Considering the scope of high value crops in the village, Ginger and Naga King Chilli production technology training was imparted.
During the 2-day technical sessions the resource persons imparted trainings on various topics. Hands on demonstration of organic compost preparation was conducted and thorough theoretical session on cultivation and management practices of Ginger and Naga King Chilli was also imparted. The participants expressed their gratitude to KVK Tuensang for conducting training programme and also urged to help provide planting materials. Altogether 36 farmers attended the training programme.
