DRFCB wants suspension bridge built immediately

January 21, 2018 | by admin

Dhansiri River Flood Control Board (DRFCB) has appealed to the Urban Development Department to expedite construction of the suspension bridge at Dhansiri River (Purana Bazar) immediately in the interests of the general public.
A press release from DRFCB chairman, Hokheto Kiba said that the appeal was in favour of the “five to ten thousand students and public” who cross the narrow bamboo bridge daily, which could wash away come summer.
Recalling that several organizations, including student bodies, had made appeals on this issue, DRFCB asked the Urban Development Department to give reasons at the earliest why construction work had been stopped or suspended.
They also requested the District Administration to take serious note of the issue before the public had to face the repercussions of the authorities’ inaction.
