Social boycott lifted
DIMAPUR: Nokpu Village Council and Assiringyim has informed all its citizens that the social boycott imposed against Imlitemsu for ignoring court summon several times, has been lifted immediately with effect from October 15 noon. A joint release issued by the chairman Temsunungba, secretary Tali Walling, NVC and chairman Assiringyim Rendimar stated as per his own request the council summoned him to personally appear before the court on October 15, and after hearing his plea for forgiveness for his past mistakes and considering the case by the court, the social boycott has been relaxed.
SVC bans fishing and hunting
DIMAPUR: Shoxuvi Village Council (SVC) has notified the general public fishing and hunting in and around its jurisdiction/ boundaries in any style/ system has been ‘strictly’ prohibited with immediate effect. Vhairman V. Yepthomi in a release said also informed that it would take actions as per the council rules and regulations to any parties/ individual if found guilty.
Sainik school entrance exam
KOHIMA: All India Sainik School entrance examination for admission for boys in Class 6 session of 2009-2010 will be held on January 4, 2009. The written part of the examination will be held at the designated centers such as Kohima, Mokokchung, Dimapur and Itanagar for Sainik School Punglwa, Medziphema, Peren District. Prospectus along with form will be available at Sainik School, Punglwa office from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m from 6th October 2008 to 8th December 2008 and who wants to collect by post may forward SBI demand draft or IPOs. Only boys born between 2nd July 1998 and 1st July 1999 will be eligible for Nagaland.
Mass social work at Wokha
WOKHA: In view of the Lotha Tokhu Emong festival there will be a mass social work on October 25 at Wokha town. The cleanliness drive will start from 7 a.m. and continue till 10 a.m. In a circular issued by DC Wokha, A. Wopen Lotha, all business establishments will remain closed during the mass social work. All government employees and students are requested to participate. Students will be given institution-wise assignments and chairman and GB of the respective council will be responsible for the cleanliness of the respective wards. All heads of offices and town councilors and churches are requested to join in the social work.
DC to grace craft bazar
WOKHA: DC Wokha, A. Wopen Lotha will inaugurate the craft bazaar at local ground on 22nd October 2008. S.P Wokha will be the guest of honour of the function. The craft bazaar has been organized by Heto Multi Purpose Co-operative Society Ltd Latsumi village and sponsored by the Development Commissioner, Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
Secretary Visütha to inaugurate
KOHIMA: Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Visütha Angami will inaugurate one room extension of G.P.S. Sector ‘A’ and ‘B’, Kidima under S.S.A. as the chief guest on October 31 at 10 a.m. Kidima village is located some 32 kms away from the state capital Kohima. The chief guest will carry out the formal inauguration at the school premises. Invocation prayer will be pronounced by Rev. Pastor Keholeshü, B.C.K. Voluntary comment on communitization of the school, report of the Village Education Committee and songs presentation by G.PS. students are the highlights of the programme.
Workshop on E-Governance
KOHIMA: Two day capacity building workshop on e-governance for Policy Makers is being organized by the Department of Information Technology & Technical Education on November 3 and 4 at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima. The workshop will be attended by the legislative heads of departments on day 1 (November 3) while the heads of departments (HoDs), Joint Secretaries and departmental Nodal Officers (IT) will attend the training on day 2 (November 4). The workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue till 4:30 p.m, as informed by the joint secretary of the IT&TE Department, Imjung M. Panger.

DNSU on hostel guidelines
Dimapur: Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has asked all hostels proprietors and warden to collect the guidelines for hostels at DNSU office during office hours and also has informed parents and students to avail the same from the office based on joint meeting of proprietor/warden/DNSU held on July 26.
ENWO indigenous dinner
Dimapur: Eastern Nagaland Women’s Organisation (ENWO) will host indigenous dinner on October 25 at DUDA guest house Kohima to promote indigenous dish recipe with ENPO outgoing president Tongtham Khiamngun as the guest of honour. Meanwhile, the ENWO has also felicitated the new team of office bearers of ENPO lead by Y. Mango Phom and expressed hope that the new team continue to work for the people of Tuensang, Mon, Longleng and Kiphire and Naga as a whole.
