Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Dimapur Medziphema Block on February 3 organised “Kisan Goshti” and demonstration at Piphema Village.
According to a release by ATMA Dimapur, in the first session, BTM, Medziphema Block, Chubanaro Jamir, highlighted the farmers about the activities of ATMA carried out under Medziphema block and briefed them about “Kisan Gosthi”. Resource person, SMS (Plant protection), Lireni Kikon, spoke on the topic “beekeeping and its benefits”. The farmers then visited some of the apiaries at Old Phiphema Village where they had an interactive session with the resource person and discussed their problems.
Kikon advised them about its maintenance, site requirements, maximizing honey production, artificial feeding. She further suggested the farmers and SHGs to take up such activity as honeybees offer twin gifts of honey and higher crop yield. In the second session, ATM, Medziphema block, Keneisano Krose, conducted demonstration on “disease management of king chilly (raja mircha)” with bio-control agents such as trichoderma. Demonstrations were also done on the topic “management practices on beekeeping” emphasizing on some of the apiary management technique and “oyster mushroom cultivation” by SMS (Plant Protection), KVK (ICAR), Lireni Kikon.
Further, chief technician officer, KVK (ICAR), Dr Ebibeni Ngully, also gave a brief description about the ongoing works and projects of KVK Medziphema and appealed the farmers to adopt the technologies that KVK are trying to disseminate.
Altogether 27 farmers attended the programme. Mushroom spawn and trichoderma were distributed. Seed money were also distributed to the selected SHGs .
