Former frontal office bearers of 3 BJP Dimapur-III assembly constituency Thursday accused the district administration of biasness for allegedly denying permission to publish news of their resignation in the media. They also questioned the neutrality of media certification and monitoring committee (MCMC) for turning down their request while allowing other parties to publish their resignation in the print media.
Speaking to media persons at press conference, former BJP Dimapur-III A/C Mandal president Akato Chishi said that BJP mandal and all its units resigned from the party on February 9 as they had lost faith in the BJP leadership.
Vekaho Zhimo, president, ST Morcha of Dimapur-III A/C said that all the units comprising of 181 office bearers resigned for the party after their recommended candidate for Dimapur-III A/C was rejected on the ground of seat sharing with NDPP. “So with no candidate of our own, we decided to resign from the party,” he added. However, when the resigned members went to seek the approval of district administration and district polling officers to publish the news of their resignation in the media, their request was reportedly turned down by the media certification and monitoring committee (MCMC).
While stating that members resigning and joining other political parties are being published everyday in newspapers in the form of advertisements, Vekaho said that rejection of their request by the MCMC is ‘shocking and discriminatory.’
