DAPCC holds meeting in Mon

District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee (DAPCC) held a meeting on March 28 under the chairmanship of Thavaseelan K, deputy commissioner, at DC conference hall.
According to district programme officer, Longyim Tzudir, in his welcome address, the deputy commissioner acknowledged the participation of government departments, civil societies, churches, students, NGOs, medical and paramedics in the committee and called upon members to share their activities and views to effectively implement the HIV Prevention and Control Programme in the district.  
District programme officer, DAPCU Mon, Longyim Tzudir highlighted the overall activities carried out by DAPCU and partners towards HIV-AIDS prevention and control in the district (NSACS support) during the period 2017-18 and shared key agendas for future actions. 
During an interaction, the topic on the need of leadership training for block/village level on HIV and AIDS was discussed where support of key sectors such as DRDA, social welfare department, education department, district public relation officer, churches association and district legal services authority were targeted to collaborate for carrying out proposed activities successfully.
In regard to Voluntary Blood Donation (VBD), members acknowledged the Mon District Voluntary Blood Donors Association and Red Ribbon Club for their contributions and encouraged them to carry out more sensitization programmes among the targeted groups.
Members from Outreach Gospel Ministry also shared about voluntary services rendered for drug addicts, including opium users, through organizing free detoxification camps. They also shared their plan to organize another free detoxification camp in May 2018 at Mon where they have requested district administration and partners to extend their support to make the programme a success.
While giving a briefing about the treatment services for PLHIV, K, MO I/c ICTC & LAC+ DH Dr. Yingnei mentioned that due to poor financial conditions, many PLHIV could not avail facilities particularly outside Mon. Dr. Tiasunep, DTO, briefly shared about HIV-TB collaboration while Ingaupeule, OST counsellor DH talked about OST services and the need for more OST centres in Mon district.
