Student community on Tuesday was encouraged to practise non-violence, the fundamental teaching of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
Speaking at the one act play/skit competition on “Gandhian values” organised for secondary and higher secondary school, state mission director, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) Nagaland, Limawabang Aier, highlighted the contributions and work of Mahatma Gandhi.
The competition was organised by Nagaland education mission society, RMSA Nagaland at T.M. Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
While urging the students to be patient and persistent, Aier said “nothing great happens without patience and passionate”.
He then asked the students to make use of every opportunity that come their way.
In his address, RMSA Nagaland, Joint mission director, Visiezolie Yashü, highlighted the significance of the programme and informed that as per the directive of Ministry of Human Resource Development, 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi would be celebrated at national and international level.
He informed that selected school would represent the state at national level on September 23-25 and then the schools selected in the national level would perform at international convention to be held from September 29 to October 2 at New Delhi.
The competition was won by Jawarhar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Kohima while TM Government Higher Secondary School bagged second prize and Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School bagged the second and third positions respectively. JNV would represent the state at national level competition.
The programme was chaired by TMGHSS Kohima, principla, Avino Tase; the team of jury for the competition were from district cultural office Kohima, Peihau Nsarangbe and Art curator Kohima, Kikrulhounyu Paphino.
