Girl child sensitization seminar held in Riphyim Old village

District Administration, in collaboration with Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH), Social Welfare and medical department organized a Sensitization of Girl Child on Education of Health Issues seminar on November 30, at Riphyim Old Tourism Hall.

DIPR reports that the program was conducted under Beti Bachao Bet Padhao (BBBP) Scheme 2018.

The resources persons for the program were, president LEH, Zuchobeni Ezong, senior supervisor, CDPO office, Wokha, Erenbeni, and psychologist NCTP, Abeni T. Kikon.

Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Englan, Echungbemo Erui in his address, dwelt on the importance of the BBBP scheme in empowering the girl child. He urged parents to give equal opportunities to both male and female children.

He also stated that it is  time for all the people to change their mindset and make efforts to empower the girl. 

The EAC also appealed to the gathering to spread awareness about the government initiative in empowering and promoting girl children under the BBBP scheme.

The resource persons also shared their ideas and opinions based on the theme, like issues of women’s role in the society and their contribution to the community.

During the function sanitary kits/packs were also distributed. The function was chaired by cultural secretary LEH, Rachano Kithan, welcome address was delivered by finance secretary LEH, Thungchano Kikon while vote of thanks was proposed by president Eloe Ekhung Riphyim Old. Around 170 participants took part in the seminar.
