
State co-ordinator of PMU, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GoI, Dr. Pankaj Gupta visited Mon district on January 20 and 21 and a meeting was held on January 21 at DC conference hall Mon with District Administration and master volunteers of Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.
According to DIPR report, while speaking at the programme, Dr Pankaj highlighted the important role of master volunteers in tackling substance abuse in the country. He encouraged them to provide continuous feedback and undertake initiatives best suited to the prevailing social conditions.
Wango Konyak also assured District Administration of the support and assistance of the Department in its fight against substance abuse and commended the district on the activities undertaken so far.
He encouraged the Church and civil societies to undertake activities focussed on steering the people away from substance abuse. Meanwhile, SDO (Civil) Mon, Ilika Zhimomi welcomed Dr. Pankaj Gupta, assistant director, Directorate of Social Welfare, Wango Konyak and master volunteers. She briefed the house on calendar of events scheduled under Nasha Mukt Bharat and proposed activities aimed at creating awareness among the general public about the ill effects of substance abuse.
She also gave a PowerPoint presentation on the activities and initiatives undertaken in the district.
