Training on SHG bank linkage in Jotsoma

With the objective of guiding Self Help Groups (SHG) on the various facets of banking related matters, a one day Sensitization-&-Training on Bank Linkage for leaders of 35 SHGs was organized at Jotsoma village on December 5, sponsored by NABARD in collaboration with NSRLM.

A press release from NABARD Kohima stated that delivering the keynote address, district development manager Kohima NABARD, Poji stressed on the importance of practicing “Panchasutra” (regular meetings; regular savings; regular inter-loaning; timely repayment and up-to-date book of accounts) by SHGs. In his exhortation, lead district manager Kohima SBI, Peter Lokho, beseeched the participants to maintain credit discipline for maintaining good rapport with banks and also cautioned against ATM and tele-frauds. 
Deputy manager SBI Kohima Main Branch, Partha Pratim Buragohain, explained the procedures to be followed by SHGs to open bank accounts and avail financial support from banks.  
He also emphasized on the importance of building good relations between SHGs and banks. Program manager (FI) NSRLM, Rajuselie Lhousa, while sharing on the concept and guiding tenets of NSRLM, said that the support of banks was a vital component in bringing significant improvements in the lives of the rural populace as envisaged in the mission. 
The members of the SHGs took active participation in the interactive session to clear various doubts and sought suggestions on how to ease transactions with the banks.
