A two-day regional training of trainers (ToT) was organized on April 25 and 26 in Guwahati, to train state officials on operationalization of the Rotavirus Vaccine (RVV) in the North Eastern States, except for Assam and Tripura where the RVV was introduced in 2017.
(Rotaviruses are the most common cause of diarrhoeal disease among infants and young children. Nearly every child in the world is infected with a rotavirus at least once by the age of five.)
The Department of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW), in a press release stated that the ToT was attended by a DoHFW Nagaland team consisting of ten members led by Dr. Ritu Thurr (SEPIO), Dr. GR Rio (SMO-UIP), Dr. Rupert Peseyie (DPO-UIP/RCH), Keneingulie Solo (SCCO) and Jean Kath (FWA-IEC) along with partners from UNDP and UNICEF.
Cascading trainings will be conducted throughout the State in preparation for the introduction of RVV soon.
