172 appointments made from 2018-19 under R&B

Deputy chief minister and R&B minister, Y. Patton informed the state Assembly that a total of 172 appointments were made under the Road and Bridges department during the period January 2018 to June 2019, after “obtaining approval from the state government”.

Replying to a starred question raised by opposition member Dr. Chotisuh Sazo, Patton further stated that 37% backward (BT) reservation was not fully maintained till June 2019, adding that the appointments were made after obtaining due approval from the government.

According to data made available the following were appointed– Sectional Assistants- 61, LDA-51 (district), LDA cum computer assistant- 2, Mason-7, Drivers-7, Grade-II driver-1, Painters-4, Draftsmen Grade II-4, Carpenter-10, carpenter helper-1, S.O grade II-15, Surveyor-4, Storekeeper-1, Plumber-1, Tracer-1, Electrician 1 and stenographer grade III- 1.

DPR approved for 4-lane Kohima bypass: Patton informed the house that the detail project report (DPR) for the 4-lane Kohima city bypass road was already approved. He said Rs. 92,13,000 was sanctioned for preparation of the DPR and to carry out survey.

Replying to a starred question raised by NPF MLA, Y. Vikheho Swu on the status of Kohima bypass road, Patton clarified that no official confirmation or direction was received from NHIDCL, Hq/MorRTH to change Kohima bypass road from 4-lane to 2-lane, adding the DPR approved as on date was for 4-lane bypass road.

Nagaland police not part of Farmana probe: Deputy chief minister Y. Patton, who is also the in charge of Home, clarified that Nagaland Police has not registered any criminal case with regard Vijay Farmana’s investigation and that the state police was not part any investigation.

He was replying to a starred question raised by opposition MLA Dr. Chotisuh Sazo on status of the investigation regarding the arrest of Vijay Farmana, who was reportedly assigned to assassinate a Naga politician. 

Patton also said that the Delhi Police was handling the case.
