‘Infection Control Review Week’ observed in Zbto

CMO’s office and Nagaland Health Project (NHP), Zunheboto observed “Infection Control Review Week (ICRW)” at Satakha PHC on December 14.

A press release by CMO office district media officer stated that, in his keynote address, CMO, Zunheboto, Dr. K. Akaho Sema stressed that infection control and bio waste management was important and people must be aware and follow guidelines provided by government to prevent infection and contamination of the health facility. Pointing out that of all the waste generated in a health facility, Dr. Akaho said that only 20% were hazardous and it was crucial that the wastes were handled and disposed off appropriately. 

DPM-QA, Tokuli Wotsa stated that waste generated in the health unit must be segregated at source in the appropriate colour coded dustbins and disposed off separately.She also oriented the health workers on evaluation criteria and checklist to qualify for NQAS certification. 

In the first session, Satakha PHC staff demonstrated on how they managed waste in their facility while in the second session, facility level training orientation on National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) for health workers was conducted.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by DPM Vitoli and vote of thanks was delivered by MO i/c Satakha PHC, Dr. Mulasato Keyho.
