Minister for Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along said it was time for Nagas to move beyond the comforts of one’s own tribe and think collectively as a race.
He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Angami Students’ Union (ASU) Thehouba & Viewpoint in commemoration of 21st Biennial General Conference 2021, 75 years of Kohima sub-division Students’ Conference and 50 years of Angami Students’ Union at Kisama here, on Saturday.
He pointed out that the narrow minded nature of being unable to think beyond one’s own family, range and tribe was present in all the Naga tribes which needed to be given up if Nagas envision of having a common future.
Along remarked that Nagas look, act and aspire the same to the extent of having a common trajectory and therefore if the host of tribes could complement each other, it would help in keeping the family together.
He added that there could be differences in opinion of the minds however there shouldn’t be differences of the heart.
It is high time for the dust of indifferences to settle now and give way to the growth of new buds of change to spring out in the Naga society, Along said.
Along lauded ASU for thinking progressively and formulating the vision to move beyond one’s boundaries into true unity and urged the student body to spearhead in coming up with resolutions for not just the tribe alone but for Nagas as a whole.

He expressed hope that ASU would be foundations stones and strong pillar on which the Naga society would lean on and progress.
